Aims of Course:

This course aims at acquainting students with the science of statistics and its applications to engineering problems. It covers basic concepts, descriptive statistics (measures of location, dispersion), introduction to probability and probability distributions, sampling distributions.

Learning Experiences:

The course is offered in 40 hours of lectures with case studies, individual exercises, project work, class discussion, critical analysis, problem solving, and individual private study.

Course Learning Outcomes:

 Provide an introduction to the statistics and data analysis.

  • Understand probability, random variable and probability distribution.
  • Discuss the concept of Mathematical Expectations. Also, to provide information on mathematical discrete probability.
  • Introduce the concepts of continuous probability distributions, fundamental distributions and data description
