Management Information Systems

Course Description:

In the information economy, there is a tremendous demand for managers that can combine technical skills with business insight to create value for their organizations using IT, whether they work in the information systems function or elsewhere. This course examines the applications of computer-based information systems to the management of organizations. Topics include use of information to further the organization’s mission and strategy, the role of users, the architecture of information and development of decision-support processes for managers. Technologies and tools such as HTML, database, and spreadsheet will be taught.

This course can offer to the student the right materials about how the information resources support all levels of decision making and business activities in the major functional areas of management and to answer several questions: How to Analysis and design of computerized business systems, Systems Development Life Cycle, Entity Relationships, data flows diagrams, prototyping and other forms of data or system modeling. How to design, select and install new systems for end users, including cost/benefit and value added evaluations.
