AIM OF THE COURSE
This course gives information to the students about rapid and advanced visualization of interior sketching as well as about one and two points perspective description.
The purpose of this course is to help the student develop sketching skills, which are useful to the designer as a tool in design development, as well as a means of effectively communicating ideas to others. Specifically, the student will learn quick-sketching techniques for drawing interior spaces. These sketches provide the designer with a means of rapid visualization of the intended design concept. This allows for critical analysis and improvement of the design before more technical drawings are completed. They also serve as a basis for all future working and presentation drawings.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- Become familiar with the basic theories and principles of perspective ,e.g. Vanishing points, picture planes, horizon lines, 1 and 2 or 3 point perspectives etc.
- Apply quick-sketching techniques to express their ideas through creation of conceptual interior drawings (Creative Expression, Critical Thinking).
- Demonstrate three-dimensional rendering skills of objects and interior views (Creative Expression).
- Perform on-site sketching of various locations outside the traditional classroom. Establish criteria for what is needed in terms of presenting their view in two-dimensional form (Creative Expression, Critical Thinking).
- Develop an ability to sketch in perspective from actual views.
- Learn how to use perspective as an essential design and presentation tool.
- Master the techniques of drawing complex volumes, irregular shapes i.e. cones, spheres, curved lines etc.
- Understand the techniques of shading and the representation of shadows in perspective.
LEARNING EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstration sessions were the instructor will demonstrate concepts and technique by drawing in front of the class.
- Individual Projects allows students to develop valuable research skills. The students engage in design, problem solving, decision making, and investigative activities.
- Freehand techniques were the students use several unique techniques using their hands and the techniques they learned from the course or he researched.
Live sketching where the student should make sketches of their ideas in the class room to develop their abilities and in mean while the instructor will see the ability of each student and put them in the right track and at the same time determining grades.
